What are the common mechanical seal leaks in water pumps and their solutions?
Container mechanical seal is an important cause of water pump leakage, but the mechanical seal itself is a high-precision component that requires high quality in design, processing, and installation.
In the use of machine seals, a comprehensive analysis of various factors of machine seals should be conducted to ensure that they are mainly suitable for the technical requirements, material requirements, and sufficient wetting standards of pumps, in order to ensure long-term reliable sealing operation.
Machine seal, also known as end face seal, has a pair of rotating axes perpendicular to the port, top fluid pressure, and compensating mechanical external elasticity. The auxiliary seal maintains a cooperative relationship with the other end, slides relative to each other, and avoids liquid leakage.
General leakage situation
The leakage rate of mechanical seals accounts for more than 50% of all repaired pumps, and the quality of mechanical seals directly affects the normal operation of pumps. The summary is as follows.
Regular leakage
(1) The axial movement of the pump rotor is large, and the auxiliary seal and shaft interference are large. The dynamic ring cannot move flexibly on the shaft. If the pump is inverted and the static ring is damaged, the displacement will not be compensated.
Solution: When installing the machine seal, the axial movement of the shaft should be less than 0.1mm, and the auxiliary seal and shaft interference should be moderate. While ensuring radial sealing, the installation of the dynamic ring ensures the flexible movement of the shaft (the dynamic ring pressure causes the torsion spring to bounce back freely).
(2) Insufficient amount of lubricating grease on the protruding surface leads to dry friction or pilling on the sealing end face.
Treatment: The surface height of the lubricating grease should be increased to be higher than the sealing surface of the dynamic and static rings.
(3) The rotor vibrates regularly. The reason is that the stator and left and right covers are not in the middle, or the impeller is unbalanced with the main shaft, causing cavitation or bearing damage, reducing the sealing life and resulting in leakage.
Processing: Correction can be made according to maintenance requirements.
